Ad Libitum is a mixed choir from Trondheim and surroundings with aproximatly 40 members.

The choir was founded in 1987 with the name «Trønderklang». In 1989 the name was changed to «Ad Libitum» which means «at one's pleasure».

The choir’s mission statement claims the choir shall perform choir music of high amateur quality.

Our greatest pleasure is when we manage to sing well. This is achieved by having good singers and an excellent director who have given us great results and experiences through group excersises, singing teacher lessons, and great personal effort.

Our voices are often mixed during excesises and performances. In this way we learn to trust ourselves while we learn to listen to the rest of the choir.

The repertoire is very varied, from classical pieces, church music, great works of folk songs and modern rhythms. We place great emphasis on mediation.

Ad Libitum participates in choir festivals and competitions at home and abroad. In 2014 we participated in "Sing 'n' joy & Franz Schubert Choir Competition" in Vienna where we won the "GOLD III Diploma" and 1st place in the "Category A1 - Mixed Choirs" and "GOLD V Diploma" and 1st place in "Category S - Sacred Choral Music".

We also arrange 2-3 own concerts a year. In addition to weekly rehearsals we have a rehearsal weekend in the fall. We also participate in choir meetings and choir retreats. We also accept arrangements for private affairs.

Bodil Egseth has been Ad Libitum's permanent conductor since 1998. She majored in music and choral conducting from NTNU and the Academy of Music. She won a directors award at "Sing 'n' joy & Franz Schubert Choir Competition" in Vienna in 2014.
